Dua 5: Dua of Desperation

Post by admin

Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) faced many trials in his early life. He was born during a time when Pharaoh, the ruler of Egypt, ordered the killing of all newborn Israelite boys. But Allah protected him, and he was raised in Pharaoh’s palace. Later, as an adult, Musa accidentally killed a man while defending someone, and he had to flee Egypt to escape Pharaoh’s punishment.

After a long journey, Musa reached a place called Madyan, where he was tired, hungry, and alone. At a well in Madyan, he saw two women struggling to water their animals while keeping a distance from the crowd of shepherds. Musa kindly helped them draw water, and afterward, he rested under the shade of a tree, feeling in desperate need of Allah’s help.

In this moment of vulnerability, he made this sincere dua:

رَبِّ إِنِّى لِمَآ أَنزَلْتَ إِلَىَّ مِنْ خَيْرٍۢ فَقِيرٌ

Rabbi innee limaaa anzalta ilaiya min khairin faqeer

My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me! (Quran 28:24)

This dua shows Musa’s humility and recognition that he relied on Allah for everything. In response, Allah provided for him generously. The family of the two women invited him into their home, and he found safety, shelter, and even later married one of the women, beginning a new chapter in his life.

This story of Musa’s dua teaches us to turn to Allah in times of need, trusting that He can provide for us in ways we may not expect. It reminds us that sincere reliance on Allah brings His blessings and support.
