Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) was one of the earliest prophets sent by Allah to guide his people. He spent many years calling his people to worship Allah alone, warning them against idol worship and sinful behavior. Despite his patience and constant efforts, very few people believed in his message. Most of them rejected him, mocked him, and even treated him with hostility. They continued in their disbelief, and some even encouraged others to ignore him.
After centuries of effort and seeing that his people remained defiant, Nuh felt overwhelmed and turned to Allah, praying:
“فَدَعَا رَبَّهُۥٓ أَنِّى مَغْلُوبٌۭ فَٱنتَصِرْ”
“My Lord, I am helpless, so help me!” (Quran 54:10)
In response to his prayer, Allah instructed Nuh to build an ark. When the punishment (a great flood) came, Nuh and the believers were saved on the ark, while the disbelievers who rejected him were destroyed by the flood.
The story of Prophet Nuh’s dua teaches us about patience, perseverance, and turning to Allah in times of hardship. It reminds us that even when we feel helpless, Allah is always there to provide strength and support.
